Amanda DeVries RGD

Amanda DeVries is the principal and creative director of Eye Candy Design, a boutique branding and packaging design firm that creates fresh, iconic work for food and beverage companies. She has nearly 20 years experience as a brand consultant, art director and graphic designer. Amanda spent the first 10 years of her career in Ottawa, where governmental agencies kept her busy but not terribly inspired. In 2010, her family moved to southwestern Ontario to start an organic vegetable farm and this presented her with the opportunity to work directly with entrepreneurs and business owners. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge through various teaching gigs and mentoring younger designers. She is the mother of 3 children who share her love of good food, vintage shopping and travel.

After the branding rehaul of Great Lakes Farms, we turned our attention to a new cider line they were launching. We created a unique & visually appealing design that reflected the high quality and artisanal nature of the product. The design easily imported into a can format as well. 2023 brought many more flavours and an expanded colour palette.

A Dessert that stands out in the Refrigerator aisle

These tiny “pots de creme” are an absolute dream, and needed a premium look. We wanted to strike a good balance between a luxe look but also not take ourselves too seriously. A spoon was the choice for a graphic mark, along with an elegant but still chunky typeface. On the packaging, illustrated birds keep it quirky and fun.

Squeeze Sparkling Water by Booch

The owner of Booch Kombucha found the lemongrass used in the kombucha process had a lot of essence left after its first use. She created a sparkling water to stretch the lemongrass further, thereby reducing waste. We underlined the refreshing flavour of the drink with a bold colour palette, and preserved the Booch ethos with the typography.

Coffee, but better

Cafézia offers a coffee that has been infused with tasteless herbs. This coffee requires some degree of education to help consumers understand its benefits. We put the value proposition squarely into the packaging by directly illustrating what you can expect within each bag. The result was a 40% increase in sales in the first year alone.
